French, Iranian ministers hold talks in Lebanese capital

Tehran, Iran, Aug. 01 – French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy met his Iranian counterpart in the Lebanese capital on Monday.

Douste-Blazy held talks with Manouchehr Mottaki in the Iranian embassy in Beirut, state-run media reported on Tuesday.

Prior to their meting, Douste-Blazy said that Tehran was playing a “stabilising role” in the Middle East.

Israel launched an air raid on the village of Qana, southern Lebanon, on Sunday, killing 54 civilians.

Iran founded and armed the Lebanese militia Hezbollah which has been battling Israeli forces for the past three weeks.
